Extending the Trans Canada Highway across Howe Sound is a project that could greatly enhance the region as a tourist destination and vastly improve the B.C. Ferry System. The Construction of two new bridges at Anvil Island with highway connection and a new state of the art Ferry Terminal on the Sunshine Coast would cut the ferry crossing to Vancouver Island by nearly one third, eliminate the need for the Langdale ferry and reduce the congestion , ferry and vehicular traffic, on the approaches to Horseshoe Bay.
An alternate road-access proposal through Squamish (yellow broken line) was recently put forward by Mayor Lonsdale of Squamish.
